Hi Friends. Welcome to the last WIAW of September. It is crazy to think it is October next week. We had summer like weather on the weekend here but the cooler temps supposed to come this weekend. I ended up having to work an extra day last week so it kind of made my weekend a lot busier then planned.
My contract is up here in Pittsburgh at the beginning of Nov and I am starting to apply for my next one and figure out moving and logistics. It is exciting to look forward to a move but I’d be lying if I didn’t say it is equally as stressful as well.
Since I have a move on the horizon I am at the point where I start avoiding buying items that I won’t use up before moving. I’m out of my jar of collagen and have been using up some samples I got before restocking. This morning I tried the strawberry blend from Vital Proteins. I got it from Expo East and added it to my oatmeal. It added a slight strawberry flavor which was surprisingly good. I added some flax and a ton of cinnamon. I’m on a huge cinnamon kick right now.
I usually try to buy a few bananas in varying stages of ripeness but last week they only had really ripe ones. I picked up some green ones to ripen yesterday but since they need a bit more time I had an apple with some almond yogurt.
I spent the morning completing this work project that I needed to get done by the end of the month. It has been on my ‘to do’ list all month and I’m glad it is now done. I finished just as lunch rolled around. I prepped my lunches for this week (rice tortilla with my new find of cashew butter) which I assemble and then cut and freeze in baggies. I just grab and go on work mornings and it is a huge timesaver. After getting that done I topped some rice cakes with Sriracha hummus by Hope Foods. This hummus has a spicy kick and much more then the avocado one I had last week.
I spent the afternoon working on another work project. I submitted an abstract last week and am hoping I’ll be selected for a big event so did some prep work in case I am chosen. I
I posted on Instagram last week about Thrive Market. I had seen a lot of posts about it and always kind of thought it was not worth it as I have a Costco membership and use Amazon, Whole Foods, etc. I’ve been frustrated with the lack of availability of some items locally here at Whole Foods and some raised prices so I looked again. They had a 20% off the first three orders promo so I priced out a cart of some items. With the deal I placed a huge order and saved a ton and now am stocked up till I move. It came within a few days and I think I am converted…(not a sponsored post at all but you can sign up through my link if desired). I ordered a bunch of chips from Siete (which were packaged securely from Thrive unlike the pretzels that I ordered from Amazon which came crushed) and tried the nacho flavor for the first time.
Dinner was some halibut and rice Mexican bowl with a salad. Snacked on veggies and hummus while the rice was cooking. I ordered some more salmon from Sizzlefish and they sent along an extra piece of halibut….Thanks Sizzlefish!
After dinner was a a bowl of mixed frozen berries, grapes, and vanilla almond yogurt
I then headed off to bed to try and read a bit before falling asleep. I haven’t been sleeping great lately and am hoping to return to undisrupted sleep again soon. Trying to zone out and relax before bed to see if that helps but haven’t noticed any changes yet. I fall asleep quickly and then wake up a few hours later and can’t really fall back asleep 🙁
Do you have any issues sleeping?
Any remedies that worked?
