Hi Friends! Time for the first WIAW of August. July seemed to fly by and hard to believe it is now August. I was off last Friday and made the 3 1/2 hour drive up to Buffalo as I needed to take care of a few things in Canada. I left at 5am and was back home by noon. Unfortunately one thing was still outstanding so I am flying up to Toronto tomorrow for the day to take care of it. It will be a short day trip but much better than a long drive.
Time for the weekly gallery of what I’ve been making
Still on the collagen, flax, hemp, chia, and maple syrup oatmeal
In my quest to have more calcium I finished off the yogurt in the fridge. I was still hungry after the oatmeal and this hit the spot
I had ran out of Lusty Monk mustard from Asheville and since no stores here carry it I ordered some more online. I had been having regular variety but tried a jar of the honey mustard. I opened it and tried it out. It has just the right balance between spicy and sweet. It is a little thicker then the regular one but otherwise perfect. Some defrosted mashed avocado and turkey on top.
I quickly ate while trouble shooting a Netflix issue my Dad was having and set out to head to the post office and Costco. When I got home later and put everything away it was time to think about dinner. I had a piece of halibut in the fridge. While the oven heated I snacked on crackers with salsa which has become my new fav snack
When the fish was done there was something off about it and the coloring. Not sure if it was a back piece or what. I ended up throwing it in the trash and cooked up a turkey burger instead.
While the burger cooked I chopped up a bell pepper. I had bought a multi pack at Costco and 2 were moldy inside. Luckily Costco will give refunds without an issue when this happens. The third one was good though and I ate it with baby carrots while the burger cooked
After dinner I eagerly opened this box of cereal I got when I was in Canada. I used to love Shreddies and have found them no where in the US. No woven wheat, Chex, etc is the same as these. It oddly takes just the right about of milk or they can get soggy quickly….it is a fine art!
Followed by some frozen strawberries and a chocolate ice cream bar…(recycled photo!). It was a warm evening and having a cool end was needed 🙂
Hope you all have a great week and are enjoying some cool summer eats.
Any childhood foods that you like?
