Welcome to another WIAW weekly linkup courtesy of Arman this week. I hope you all had a great holiday weekend whether you were celebrating Canada Day or Independence Day. I was off work on Monday but wore my patriotic hat at work on Friday
I had thought about heading down to NYC to meet up with some friends but the bus schedule was going to make making it into the city tight timing wise and I knew traffic would not be in my favor. I ended up sticking around at home instead. I picked up another box of navel oranges from Costco on Saturday. I’ve been surprised at the lack of Farmer’s markets here in Boston. I’ve found one that operates Tuesday and Fridays in the city but not on the weekend. I miss visiting and picking up the great seasonal goods from the summer markets. Used up some quick oats this morning that were in the cupboard and had a Costco orange on the side. I peel and divide the orange and then pop it in the freezer prior to cooking the oats. I find the short time is just enough to cool it and make it refreshing.
Cheerios while working on blog and internet things in the morning. Perfect snack to munch on with no stickiness or mess!
Lunch on Monday was toast, jam, and watermelon. Although watermelon is higher in Fodmaps I’ve been having small amounts and seeing how my system tolerates it. It appears to have been ok so far which is great. Broke out the blue bowl for the red, blue and white….if you count the oat flakes in the bread 🙂 meal!
Mini carrots as a pre dinner snack
I stopped by Whole Foods on Saturday and finally found a store with a wider variety of Tessemae dressings. I picked up two bottles to try…French and Italian. I still can’t seem to find the hot sauce locally. I had the French with some mixed greens and it was delicious. The dressing is so flavorful and I can see why people rave about it.
I cooked up some Sizzlefish Shrimp for dinner and topped it on some roasted potatoes. I warmed up some tomato sauce and mixed some nutritional yeast in. Basically it was shrimp and pasta minus the pasta (like this old photo).
After dinner I caught up on some professional reading and ate some partially defrosted strawberries. I also had a fig bar a little while later.
No late night fireworks for me as I had to be up bright and early for work the next morning.
Have a great week and thanks for stopping by
Have you tried Tessemae dressings?
